Stories

Since its launch during National Carers Week 2023 the Carer-Inclusive Workplace Initiative (CIWI) has provided a framework and resources for businesses and organisations, large and small, to become more supportive of employees with caring responsibilities. Hundreds of companies have taken our Self-Assessment Test, and those with high scores and a demonstrated commitment to carers are considered CIWI “Champions.” Meet a few and let them tell you in their own words why carers are important to their bottom line.

Wellways

Wellways is one of Australia’s largest and most respected mental health, wellbeing and carer services providers. With more than 40 years of experience working with individuals, families, carers and the community Wellways was naturally set up to be a carer-inclusive workplace.

About Carers Australia

Carers Australia, the national peak body representing Australia’s carers, spearheads this initiative. We advocate to influence policies and services at a national level. We work to improve the health, wellbeing, resilience and financial security of carers and to ensure that caring is a responsibility shared by family, community and government.

"Vital recognition for carers in the workplace"

“Australia’s ageing population, cost of living pressures, and evolving lifestyles are reshaping the landscape of caregiving. Just as workplaces have adapted to accommodate parents caring for children, it is crucial that we acknowledge the unique challenges faced by carers and provide them with the support needed to thrive in their careers.”
